Recycling details
The parish supports recycling activities in two main ways:
Additional recycling activities are supported at other waste collection points throughout the borough. The government has set a target for local authorities to recycle at least 25% of waste by the end of 2000. By the end of October 2000 Test Valley Borough Council had recycled 24% of waste and was well on the way to achieving the target. Collection and disposal Waste and recyclable material is collected from domestic properties weekly, and from the parish recycling centre by Test Valley Borough Council as required - typically weekly, although seasonal variations are taken into account. The collected material is processed by Hampshire County Council, who separate it and resell whatever is possible. Twin bin refuse and recycling Household waste is collected using a "twin-bin" approach:
In addition there is a green garden waste collection servicewhich is available for an additional fee of £20.00 per annum. The general waste is collected each week, and the recyclable waste is collected approximately every altyernate week - according to a published schedule. Parish recycling centre The recycling centre in the parish collects paper, plastic, tins, and glass (separated into white, green, and brown glass). |
