Police

[ Police ]Policing is provided by Hampshire Constabulary.

Barton Stacey is within the Constabulary's Western Operational Command Unit (OCU) which covers the boroughs of Test Valley, Eastleigh, and New Forest, with headquarters at Lyndhurst and a main police station at Andover.

The local police station is at Stockbridge, just 7 miles away.

A mobile police station visits Barton Stacey each month on the first Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.

Local police

Police Constable 1386 Richard Jewell is the local Safer Neighbourhood Team officer responsible for Barton Stacey and the surrounding area. He is stationed at Stockbridge police station together with five colleagues under Police Sergeant Glenn Curtis covering the rural areas around Andover.

To help you to recognise our "local" policeman, we hope to be able to show a photograph of him on the web site soon. At present (May 2008) we are checking with Hampshire Constabulary whether this is permitted by their policies (eg in respect of the privacy and safety of police officers).
