08 Jun 2007 Village road closing

[ Village road closing ] County Council will close the main road north of Difford Bridge - from the village to the A303 - from 8 June for about 4 weeks

The closure is required for "haunching" - repairing the edges of the road which have been worn away, and for patching worn out areas of the road itself.

While the work is being carried out reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises (eg Difford Kennels, the byway from Difford to Bransbury, Bullington Manor beats).

Did you know? The official road number for the main road through the village is the C87.

The alternative route (recommended by the Test Valley Borough Council if entering Barton Stacey off the A303 from the North) is:

  • head east on the A303 to its junction with the A34 at Bullington, then
  • turn south on the A30 Bullington Lane, then
  • head west on the A30 By-pass Road to its junction with the C87, then
  • north on the C87 io the bridge

Hampshire County Council's engineer handling the work is Rob Nicholls who can be contacted on 023 8042 7000.
