17 Jan 2007 Remembering Richard Lovell
Special thanks to 'The Players' and carol singers, who turned out on two dreary nights in December and sang their hearts out to collect for Guide Dogs for the Blind in Richard’s memory and to the villagers of Barton Stacey for donating the magnificent sum of £330. This has been added to the £720 collected following Richard's funeral in October. 2006 was the 75th anniversary of the founding of Guide Dogs. The Richard Lovell Guide Dog Tribute Fund has now been established as a permanent memorial that will continue to affect peoples’ lives in a positive way, as Richard did during his life. Each £5,000 raised will name and sponsor a new guide dog through the crucial puppy walking and training of it’s first year, thus helping to support the vital work that Guide Dogs undertake and from which Richard was lucky to have benefited by his pairing with Corby Further thanks to Andy and Cheryl Glenister for so kindly sponsoring a light in Richard's name on the Macmillan Cancer Support 'Tree of Thought', which shone brightly in Middle Brook Street, Winchester, during the festive season and to the staff and Richard\'s fellow trustees at Community Action Hampshire for generously donating to Diabetes U.K. in his memory, instead of sending Christmas cards.
