06 Nov 2006 Police probe farm burglary

[ Police probe farm burglary ] Police in Andover are appealing for information after a Barton Stacey farm was targeted by opportunist thieves.

The theft occurred sometime between 10:30 and 10:45pm on Friday, October 6.

The occupants of the property were watching television when someone disturbed their viewing by attempting to force open a window. Two men of Eastern European appearance were seen at the window and made off when they realised someone was in the room. They were seen to drive off in a car although the make and model is unknown.

Afterwards the occupants noticed a horsebox parked in their driveway had been broken into and two saddles, two bridles and a riding hat had been stolen.

Earlier that day between 4.30 and 5pm, a vehicle containing two men and a woman was seen acting suspiciously as it drove several times up and down the High Street in Barton Stacey.

It is thought the vehicle may have been a Range Rover or Land Rover or something similar with a partial index of STS.

Officers at Andover would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area that day or driving out of Barton Stacey after the theft.

Anyone with information should phone Andover police station on 0845 045 45 45 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111
