19 Jul 2006 Barton Stacey on TV
The programme will be shown on Tuesday 1 August at 7.30 pm. The programme was filmed in April and covers an interesting mix of people, activites and locations. Make sure to set your video to record! The following press release was issues by the programme producers The villagers of Barton Stacey are to become stars of the small screen in the first programme of a new series of Village Voices, which starts on ITV Meridian on Tuesday 1st August at 7.30pm. Exposure is nothing new to some of the ladies of Barton Stacey - they’ve already taken a leaf out of the WI’s book by posing for their very own charity calendar and, as we discover, they are planning to do it all over again! Village Voices, made by Plus3 Productions Ltd for ITV Meridian, is a gentle and beautiful series of portraits of English Villages in the South and South East of England and the people who live in them. Each programme features a separate village from a different part of the Meridian region. The programmes reflect the unique character of each village, explore its history and take a close look at village life in the 21st century through the eyes of local people. The first programme in the series was filmed at Barton Stacey in Hampshire in late March and early April during preparations for the Barton Stacey Fun Run. We’ll meet some of the runners, hear the Barton Stacey Jazz Band in action, and find out just why the local chimney sweep covers himself in soot for weddings. We'll also learn what a hurdle maker does and discover how two armies - the Roman one and the British one have helped to shape the village. Series Producer, Nicola Phipps said, Village Voices is a wonderful series to make. It is fantastic to see how many people there are working to keep their village community together and making sure old craft skills don’t die out. In Barton Stacey we were really impressed by the way everyone in the village was prepared to get involved in a charity event - and have huge fun at the same time.." Note for editors:
