25 Sep 2002 Web site collects award

[ Web site collects award ] The Barton Stacey parish web site has collected the award for Highly Commended in the Information Technology in the Hampshire Village of the Year 2002 competition.

Andy Glenister collects Highy Commended award in Hampshire Village of the Year 2002 The award was collected on behalf of the parish by Greenacres resident Andy Glenister, who designed, built and manages the site. Andy was accompanied by Parish Council chairman Sally Merison and Parish Councillor Richard Lovell.

The judges, in awarding the certificate, stated that the Barton Stacey web site

"is a well designed, comprehensive, up-to-date and extremely practical site"

The awards were presented at the Community Action Hampshire Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 25 September 2002 at Victoria Hall, Sutton Scotney.

The competition, organised by Community Action Hampshire, attracted entries from 43 villages, and focussed on five aspects of community life, including Information Technology.

The overall winner of the competition was Grayshott, with Abbots Ann winning the Information Technology section, who both now go on to represent Hampshire in the national competition, sponsored by Calor. We send our congratulations to both villages, and wish them continued success.
